In the film The People vs. Larry Flynt, Flynt defends the First Amendment based on a concept Mike Created for Hustler magazine.
George Lucas collected Salisbury’s work and recommended him to Francis Ford Coppola who used Salisbury’s imagery creation in Apocalypse Now and hired Mike to be creative director of his City of San Francisco magazine.
Mike’s music industry work includes creating album covers for Michael Jackson, George Harrison, James Taylor, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones, Ry Cooder, Frank Sinatra, Ike and Tina, ELO and Salisbury developed branding identities for Blue Note, RCA, United Artists Records and PolyGram.
Mike has a Grammy nomination for album design.
The MGM Grand was rebranded by Mike as the City of Entertainment. Mike was a production designer for America’s Got Talent.
Mike was an art director, creative director, v.p. and senior v.p. at legendary advertising agencies including Wells Rich Greene, Foote Cone Belding, Young & Rubicam and has taught design, advertising, illustration and photography at UCLA, Chouinard, Otis Art Institute, Cal Poly, Loyola, University of Miami and Art Center as well as teaching in Finland, Brazil, England, Japan and Mexico.
Mike is a contributing editor and writer for Forbes, Men’s Journal and other magazines and has taken celebrity photographs for Vogue, Esquire, Newsweek and more including telling stories in pictures and words of his motorcycling and surfing adventures all over the world - surfing safaris to Fiji, Nicaragua, motorcycle adventures circumnavigating Alaska, across Peru from the Pacific over the Andes to Machu Picchu, to Corsica and Sardinia from Milan, into the Brazilian Amazon from Bolivia and around the Florida Keys, into the Grand Canyon and across the Gulf Stream from Miami to the Bermuda Triangle on a Jet Ski.
Mike wrote a book on his work “Art Director Confesses” and his work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, the Library of Congress and The Smithsonian. General Motors flew Mike to Michigan to consult on the future of the SUV - he told them that class of vehicle would go on to be the biggest category in sales.

3. Each Fellow get 1 hour a year (15 mins each) one-on-one online talk with Mike (a 2-week advance booking is required and based on Mike’s open calendar).
4. Fellows will get to join Mike’s virtual community platform, to share ideas, address issues with input from Mike for a year.
5. Mike will appear four live sessions annually to share his unique experiences and latest ideas.
6. Mike’s virtual community will host various guests of expertise from around the world to bring Fellows unique perspectives.
